Dension Gateway Pro BT allows you to connect iPhone, iPod, USB storage devices and mobile phones to car multimedia system and control them via OEM radio buttons. Gateway Pro enables full iPhone, ipod and USB devices browsing on OEM multimedia system display and audio files playback via car stereo system.
Dension Gateway Pro BT also offers Bluetooth connectivity for music streaming (via A2DP) and hands free mobile call handling, via the radio or steering wheel controls.

Skot’s service was exemplary, after placing my order he was in touch to make sure everything would be compatible, and even messaged again when postage was delayed, and they chased it up without me even asking.
After buying a B7 A4 and wanting to keep an original look but upgrade to a unit with Bluetooth/iPhone compatibility, The Dension Gateway Pro BT (GWP1AC2) seemed like a good solution. Everything was plug and play, and audio quality through both BT and lightning cable is excellent! Routed the mic into the map lighting/sunroof control panel for a seamless look, and I can be heard crystal clear on the other end of the phone.
Initially I experienced an issue with Bluetooth and phonecall audio, but after updating to the latest firmware and following the instructions, it was all working well.
Money well spent, and thanks Skot for the great service!!

Customer service from Cushie is outstanding. When I ordered the product wasn’t currently in stock but I was kept informed through the entire process.
Installation of the product was extremely easy. Placement of the microphone had to be moved to the pillar as the centre location next to interior light was too faint to pickup adequately, despite the adjustments in the system.

Very fast delivery by courier. Initially had some confusion during installation due to additional connectors on harness that we’re not required to be used. Tech support was great in helping sort this out. Unit was supplied with very old firmware that wouldn’t connect via bluetooth to my iPhone 5. However once updated to new version everything work well with full functionality using steering wheel controls.
Great feature with new firmware is the ability to connect iPhone 5 cable straight into the USB port on unit which gives full iPhone control and charging. Sound quality is excellent and phone audio is clear at both ends. Would be better if track names and info displayed on the stereo display as well as instrument cluster – maybe this is a limitation of my stereo. Would recommend this unit as a great integrated bluetooth solution.

I just installed the unit in my ’08 Golf this weekend. Installation was easy (getting the panel work off was the hard part).
iPod audio is a bit crackly at times, but probably no worse than FM radio. Control through the dash and steering wheel is nice. Even searching playlists. Titles are cut off at the length of the display (fair enough).
Bluetooth hands free is good and easy to use but a bit quiet on default level (you can change that in the menus).
I had an issue where the phone menu would disappear, then found Dension had a firmware update to resolve it. Make sure you plug in a USB extension so you don’t have to pull the car apart again to update the firmware!

The service from Cushie Audio was excellent. They answered every question promptly and accurately. The delivery once ordered was very fast and they kept me updated with the progress of the order right to it’s arrival with me.
Generally I’m quite happy with the unit. The installation was very easy, the hardest part was finding a spot in the car for it and the Extension Port I bought with it. and removing the vehicles interior trims without breaking the clips etc. The sound quality from the device is as good as the actual file quality and what your sound system can provide. The unit does take some time to understand. The user instructions supplied are quite vague, I downloaded every document I could from the manufacturers website and they are all equally vague.
If using Bluetooth audio streaming from your phone and a call comes in the music will automatically mute, however if using the USB as the music source or listening to the actual Radio and a call comes in the unit won’t mute the music and it locks you out of the radio controls while your on the call.
So make sure you turn the sound down first and then press Answer.
The Bluetooth Audio won’t display the track name while playing but you can search by title and artist. The USB function does display the track name when playing. You also need to delete the .BIN files (there’s more than one) on your USB drive if you make changes or additions to the music on the USB. The unit can’t detect changes, it needs to re-write the BIN files to update the content.
But I suspect most of these quirks may be due to the very basic head unit that my vehicle is equipped with. Once you understand how it works it’s great.

After a bit of mucking around I worked out how to pull the car apart and install the unit. Thank god for the internet. It works a treat and although I only opted for the Ipod cable and the bluetooth it does everything I want and I can still get the other options if I need them as it is very easy to sort out once you have the dash dismantle and reinstall tricks worked out.

Equipment installation was easy if you know how to get the car stereo out smoothly. Gateway Pro BT fulfilled all my requirements. I now have iPod/iPhone, USB, AUX Bluetooth connections and all supported with easy controls. Recommended for any one wants a reliable conversion kit.
