Hi, I’m Skot. I’ve been working with car audio since before CD players existed, and in 2018, I took over Cushie Audio.

For decades, I was a car audio installer and repair technician – the person who’d pull apart every stereo to understand how it worked. I loved what I did, but I never planned to run a business. That changed in 2013 when I discovered GROM products for our own Subaru.

Like many people, I’d been frustrated by modern head units. Hundreds of confusing settings, clunky interfaces, and complicated features that should be simple. I fought for months with the integrated stereo and steering wheel controls in that Subaru, eventually got everything near how it needed to be… but left the interior light on overnight.

Battery flat. Every. Single. Tweak I’d made – gone.

And that’s when I found GROM Audio. I plugged it in and everything just worked. It used the buttons already in my car. No manual needed. No settings to lose when the battery went flat.

I thought, “This is what people actually need.”

Today, GROM Audio tells me that I sell more units than anyone else in the world. But what I’m really proud of is the support I provide. I spend my days playing with the units on my bench – so I understand the quirks before you encounter them.

As we know all tech is frustrating, and getting the right support without having to wait is where I shine.
