I am not very technically minded and was very apprehensive about installing the Gateway Lite myself, especially as I wanted to install the item in the centre armrest console and had to remove multiple fittings. However, I found the installation very straightforward and was pleasantly surprised at the simple connectivity.

A good way to provide iPod compatibility while retaining original car stereo. Overall quite happy with the product, the install in a Alfa Romeo 147 2006 wasn’t too hard.
Only problem was that the Gateway Lite seems to struggle with larges volumes of music (eg. 10,000+ songs / more than 60GB on my iPod Classic). It’s fine if you stay in iPod interface mode, but if you select CD6 (which is the command to switch between Gateway and iPod interface modes) and you have too much music, the Gateway gets stuck, and you will have to either reduce the amount of music on your iPod or plug in another iPod/iPhone that has less music on it in order to switch back to iPod interface mode. Just thought I’d share this for anyone who may have similar issues.
Having said that it’s a relatively cheap method of getting iPod connectivity, compared to swapping to a new stereo, which might ruin the look of the original car radio.
EDIT: As mentioned in the user guide Dension Gateway Lite supports up to 250GB of music on iPod, iPhone or iPad.
