Was really easy to install (BT3) on my 2006 Mazda 6. Did not need to disassemble the dashboard/radio as it is possible to reach around behind the passenger glovebox and feel for the unused factory ext port.

Wanted some form of adaptor because the E46 factory radio (16:9 LCD) doesn’t have an aux or bluetooth. Skot was an absolute gem helping find the compatible unit and answering any questions I had. Installed the system and it sounds just as good as cd quality. Would happily buy from cushie again.

I recently purchased the GROM BT3 Bluetooth for my Lexus RX350 from Cushie Audio and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. Skot from Cushie Audio was extremely helpful and provided great advice on the installation process.
The GROM BT3 Bluetooth itself is an incredible product that has completely transformed my driving experience. The sound quality is top-notch and the installation was a breeze thanks to the clear instructions provided.
I love being able to connect my phone and listen to my favorite music through the car’s speakers without the need for wires. The hands-free calling feature is also incredibly convenient and provides an added layer of safety while driving.
Overall, I highly recommend the GROM BT3 Bluetooth and Cushie Audio to anyone looking for an easy and affordable way to upgrade their car’s sound system. Thank you GROM Audio and Cushie Audio for creating such a great product and providing excellent customer service!

I purchased and installed the BT3 back in 2019, in my 2005 Subaru Liberty 3.0R Spec B.
The fact that the unit automatically connects to my phone every time I start the car is my favourite feature. The audio quality is great, the hands-free calling is great and it also allows me to ask Siri to do handy stuff. I’ve only had two minor connection issues, each time I upgraded my iPhone; Skot replied immediately with simple instructions which easily solved the problem.
Thanks for ~1000 great hours of tunes, calls and Siri commands! After 3.5 years it has paid for itself several times over and continues to.

Bought BT3 Bluetooth for my BMW E39 2002.
It works smoothly. Very straightforward process. Just plug and play.
Dropping the review after using it for 3 weeks now. I wanted to be sure. And it is doing an absolutely fantastic job. I recommend it if you wanna modernise your music system in your old skool vehicle.
I’m very happy with it as I don’t want to change the stock stereo system in my car. It connects very fast and smoothly with your phone. Just pair it once with your phone and forget about it. It just auto-pairs every time seamlessly.
Thank you Skot for helping through the whole process. He replies to all queries lightning-fast and sorts out everything for you. He dispatched the product the same day and I got it here in NZ within 3 working days.
Great job cushie audio.

Just bought the Grom BT3 for my Honda Accord Euro, as the stock radio didn’t have any Bluetooth functionality.
Install was super easy, audio quality is great. Best part is getting to retain the stock steering wheel controls!! Never thought I’d find a kit that works this seamlessly with all the stock stereo and controls and stuff! Easily one of the best bang-for-buck mods I’ve done to my car, thanks guys!!

GROM BT3 Bluetooth unit
Purchased the mid-level BT3 Bluetooth unit for my 03 Lexus GS300 after I realised how difficult it would be to fit an aftermarket to it. Install was flawless, the BT3 with the supplied harness plugged straight into the factory harness and sat nav head unit and the bluetooth paired first go. Delivery time was quick and Skot was great with providing tracking numbers and answering any questions I had about the functionality and features of the unit.

Excellent service from Skot. Very fast delivery! High build quality and easy installation. The sound quality is also excellent.
Now the stuff that I didn’t like – I think I need to un-match my phone from the car’s (2008 Lexus RX400h) bluetooth, as if I use the steering wheel to accept a call, the car’s thing kicks in and then when the call ends, the music needs to be restarted with Siri, or by unlocking, etc. If I answer using the Grom BT3, all is well. No biggie. As promised, I can read the first few letters of short song titles on the CD player LCD, but longer names are truncated. Also, no biggie. I used to use one of those bluetooth to FM transmitter things that plug into the cigarette lighter port, and the beauty of this was that when I got in the car, it would resume doing what it was doing before you got out of the car. If you were playing music or using a radio app, etc, that would again continue playing the moment it connected to the phone, which I liked. Not so with the Grom. If the music streaming is interrupted by turning off the car and turning it back on again, the music does not resume, and for me, this is a biggie. The Grom BT3 is an excellent piece of electronics, and Skot works really hard to look after his customers, but this one gripe drives me bananas so alas, it’s not for me.

I ordered the unit on a Sunday and received it 3 days later in WA.

Can’t speak more highly of this product. I was worried I would have trouble installing in my Subaru Forester but it was super easy and I have almost no experience with cars. Sound quality is 100x better than the dodgy Bluetooth FM adapter I’ve been using.

Installed in a 2000 Volvo C70 Convertable with Factory Alpine / DynAudio Dolby system.
After looking at options with not much in todays climate with no stock on what i needed to retain the Dolby sound. I went back to Grom as i know IT JUST WORKS. Ordered the BT model. Took me 15min to install. the hardest part was putting back the pillar trim due to its age and plastic clips.
After it installed first-time radio on it worked. Crystal clear sound for both Audio and phone calls. Still can enable Dolby and sounds great. Only thing I recommend is to turn down the phone volume to max of 3/4 so the sound doesn’t distort and for Dolby turn off EQ and Surround in the phone. Funny enough too phone calls come from the center speaker really clear.

I installed this in a 2007 Honda Accord Euro. It’s all relatively straightforward, however it took about 3 hours, which was 2h45m of me getting the trim off. Once you do that, however, it really is plug and play.
You have to deal with cables hanging out in the footwell, which is kind of annoying. One day soon I will drill a hole in the cubby that sits in front of the gear stick, and feed the cables through that. This isn’t the fault of this device, of course, but you should know before you buy.
Other than that minor inconvenience, it’s really great this thing. Recommended.

Bought this for my 2002 Volvo C70 convertible as wanted to retain the factory SC-901 deck as the sound is simply amazing.
Skot was very helpful to ensure I purchased the correct unit and it was shipped quickly. Had an initial issue where the phone connected to the bluetooth but the deck would not detect the GROM. Skot answered my request for help straight away. Updated the firmware from the website and worked straight away. Clear hands free, clean sound over bluetooth and can control SIRI and answer calls through the existing head unit button. Would recommend.

No issues installing the GROM BT3 into our Lexus IS250 (non-navi). Works perfectly with great sound quality for both phone calls and audio streaming. Auto connects every time and displays song titles on the factory stereo display. For IS250/350 owners you can search YouTube for ‘IS250 GTA Bluetooth Car Kit’for a great install video. For IS non-Navi just double side tape the GROM to the top of the factory CD player. Be careful as the Lexus dash is easily damaged, use cardboard to protect the dash surrounds whilst fitting the plugs.

I am happy to say that my recent experience of purchasing a Grom unit from Cushie Audio has been extremely pleasing.
The pre-sales advice from Skot answered all my questions. The purchase process was smooth and the goods arrived very promptly and well packaged.
Then comes installation…..Skot said it was a five minute job…..installation was a breeze with no need to pull out stereo head unit, etc. (I already had an external CD stacker under the passenger seat).
I connected the existing stacker wires (under the passenger seat) to the Grom unit, turned on the car’s ignition, switched on the stereo head unit and I’m pairing the Bluetooth in the Grom with my phone. It couldn’t be simpler and the audio quality is very good – I use an Android phone and it does everything I want – streaming, directions, handsfree calling, etc. The Grom unit handles it all. My car is a 20YO Prado and I would say this is probably the best improvement it has had. If you are thinking about adding Bluetooth to your car….contact Skot and find out how easy it could be.

So easy to install thanks to Skot!!
Had the BT3 unit installed into my Toyota Landcruiser 2004 model replacing the under seat CD stacker. Can get everything I had on CD through my phone now anyway without having to change CDs.
Handsfree works a treat, really clear (nothing like all the other dodgy aftermarket solutions I’ve used in the past for HF). Having tried several failed handsfree solutions in the past made me seek a much more solid handsfree and bluetooth option this time around. The audio for both are fantastic. Best quality aftermarket option out there for extending without modification.
It was reassuring as well to see a photo of my exact Toyota stock radio/nav system on Skot’s website. That pretty much sealed the deal as I knew it would work. No dropouts or glitches. Great sound, couldn’t be happier.

Install was easy, just plugged into the back of the stereo and worked right away.
Uses the “CHGR” button on the stereo which previously didn’t do anything.
The mic for bluetooth calling was a nice touch and seems clear enough.
There is one minor issue, if the phone volume is low and the stereo volume is high, a bit of high pitch sound comes through. Probably just noise on the output of the unit. Easily resolved by turning up the phone and turning down the stereo. At full phone volume, I need less than half stereo volume before the speakers are maxing out, so basically a non-issue.

Easy to instal after watching a youtube video showing how to remove the dash panels and stereo head unit. Took less than an hour. Excellent product installed into the Honda CR-V 2011 with standard factory audio head unit. Plugged into the rear CDC slot and was recognised by the head unit after a few seconds after turning on again. Had to select the AUX setting for it to show up. Also installed the mike on the A pillar and the AUX/USB cable combination for charging the iPhone. Aux 3.5mm jack is now in the glove box and iPhone charger cable comes out of the dash aircon vent. Calls answered by the Chanel changer on the steering wheel. Highly recommend this product – will probably keep the car longer as a result.

I purchased a GROM BT3 for my 2006 Mazda 3. I was really unsure about buying
it and whether it would be of good quality. I was also unsure about how hard
it would be to install. But after countless emails to Skot at Cushie Audio
(thanks Skot for being so patient!) I felt confident and made my order.
It arrived quickly and I immediately started the installation!
20 minutes later, and with absolutely no experience, I had my stereo back in

The sound quality is great. I used to use the standard AUX input, in which I
was always having to replace cables when the sound started to crackle, but
with bluetooth the quality is clear and crisp.
So glad I purchased this, and I’ll be buying another one soon for hubby’s

Car: 2005 Honda accord euro
Grom unit: bt3
My personal experience installing car audio: none
So far so good! Bought the bt3 with some assistance from Skot. No issues with shipment, very fast.
Installing was easy. Just take your time and follow the YouTube videos if there are any for your vehicle. Essentially it’s plug and play.
Had one small issue with the unit as it wasn’t connecting. However Skot was straight on it and helped me out. All I had to do was upload an update onto the unit. If you can copy and paste files on a computer you can do this. No issue, just an inconvenience.
Now the unit is working and I’m very impressed with audio quality and the speed it has when connecting with my Samsung galaxy s10e.
If you are considering upgrading a factory head unit to use Android auto, don’t bother. Get one of these. It worked out to be 1/5 of the price of a new unit and I’m sure resale value is higher with the original factory head unit.

Super easy to install – keeps factory look but still has benefits of Bluetooth. Steering controls work great and the handsfree functions well and clearly.

This is an amazing little product! Probably the easiest car audio mod/install I’ve done, took less than an hour and was super easy! I had tried a number of aftermarket products to achieve bluetooth in my 2005 Volvo S60 but they all sounded terrible or were not at all intuitive. I highly recommend the GROM BT3; Great sound, easy install and fantastic usability. To compliment all this Skot is absolutely fantastic to deal with, he is so friendly and more than happy to help with any queries. All in all I have been very pleased with my experience from purchase to install and use. 10/10 would recommend.
Alex (verified owner) –
Can’t recommend Cushie Audio or the Grom BT3 enough. I accidentally entered the wrong shipping details and Cushie were able to respond and fix my mistake extremely quickly. Shipping took no time and the BT3 is amazing, can finally listen to music and make calls. Two thumbs up.

Install took less than an hour and support from cushie was great. They have videos and answer questions quickly. This is a much better solution to replacing your head unit and fascia.

Can’t believe I waited so long to put in my wife’s Outback. She LOVES it, and it was so flippin’ easy to install. No cutting, soldering required. Great product.

Yeah, I hear that a lot but some people wont take the step you have to share this. And you took a great step. Thanks!!

I spent ages looking both within Australia and abroad for a way to connect my phone to my stereo in my 2005 Nissan Maxima.
It ended up being a fantastic and seamless solution. I didn’t want to have to replace the head unit as they’re not too easy on the Maximas without costing a small fortune. It works without any dramas, including phone hands free.
I love it! Exactly what I was after and more. Automatically starts playing again when I get in the car and works great with voice assist (via the microphone)
Highly recommend!

Fast delivery of BT3 with mic, charger and aux for Subaru MY04. Great solution for this car, works very well, great instructions with YouTube and an easy and neat install. Highly recommended and great service from Cushie Audio. Thanks!
Glen (verified owner) –
I really wish I had brought this years ago. Works fantastic with the excellent sound for both music and calls.
For a novice like myself installation was easy even though I had to make a modification to the stereo(Mazda 6) to get the GROM to work. Skot was a great help in this, as well as some useful youtube clips.
Skot Biner –
This is a fab review! Thanks for that and also helping to spread the word.
I see you didn’t mention how many screws you had left over. Ooops, was that supposed to be a secret….; )

Great item, simple and quick to install, works amazingly, extremely happy with this product l, all of my audio controls work with the unit.
Paul Clausen (verified owner) –
Easy to fit, sounds great. Functionality is slick and just works nicely, as opposed to the factory bluetooth in my other car where the voice dialing never works properly etc. The microphone is great even at a distance from the driver, so you don’t seem to need to take the car apart to route it to the visor area. I put it on top of the steering column. This compares to my experience with aftermarket head units with bluetooth calling that’s unusable unless you lean forward into the mic.
For my Lexus IS200 install i found a video on how to take the stereo out in 5 minutes to get to the plug on the back. I imagine in plenty of cars you could just reach up from the foot well.
Skot Biner –
Oh I should frame this one, Thanks!
Marek (verified owner) –
Awesome little unit. Has brought my 2003 Honda Accord into the present! The speakers in the Accord are fantastic (for factory items that are now 15 years old) but the only downside was that the factory stereo was not Bluetooth compatible. The Grom BT3 has fixed this. Very easy to install and the sound quality with the Bluetooth connection is amazing! It’s also handy to be able to make hands-free calls using the included microphone. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs to integrate bluetooth compatibility into an existing stereo.
Skot Biner –
Thanks so much for that, The Honda’s are a very popular car for these. Lets spread the word!

Unit was shipped quickly and I was able to follow the YouTube clip for the Subaru Liberty and installed on my own with no experience with car audio (I do work in IT though).
Sound over Bluetooth was heaps better than I expected and I haven’t had any issues at all so far. The unit didn’t use the Aux setting but rather the second CD setting. This did not effect anything though.
Definitely worth the money 🙂
Dave –
Easy to install; easy to use; good audio quality.. I found a few caveats with the Mazda 3 version though:
1. I had an aux port in my Mazda3 (which was connected through the “Media” input on the stereo). It turns out that this aux port was plugged into the port that the grom goes into, so in order to connect the grom, I had to lose the aux connection (although I gained an aux through the grom so this isn’t a huge issue). It would have been nice if I could use the existing aux port (in the centre console) via the grom though.
2. It’s a bit of a shame that track names aren’t displayed.
3. If I have the volume on my phone turned right up, the grom seems to overload the pre-amp in the mazda stereo and the sound gets a bit distorted.. Again, easy fix – just don’t turn the volume on the phone up too high – use the stereo instead.
Despite the points above, I’m still giving this 5 stars, because it does everything that I wanted from it – it’s easy to install, it’s easy to use, it allows me to use the existing controls on the stereo, the audio quality is more than acceptable – and basically it does everything that I expected of it.

Great product with an easy plug & play install making even a novice like me look like a pro! Enjoying the unit and the capability of the unit itself. Would recommend!
Mathew (verified owner) –
Very fast install, less than 20 minutes in my Subaru Outback 2008. Auto reconnects when I start the car, and immediate responsiveness on the steering wheel controls. For some reason on my unit, I cannot use the back button, so I can only press next, and answer a phone call, but I cannot go to the previous song or hang up a phone call using the steering wheel buttons. I need to use my phone for this however, this is a minor irritation. Overall, I am over the moon that without replacing my head unit I now have music and phone calls via Bluetooth.
Simon –
25 minute install in 2008 subaru liberty – straightforward – does what it says in the manual. Perfic 🙂
Greg (verified owner) –
Installed In Honda accord. Does exactly what it says on the packet. Basically a plug and play unit. The longest part of the installation was trying to get the dash apart. Calls are clear and music can be controlled from the steering wheel. Would highly recommend this product and cushie audio to anyone.
Dan (verified owner) –
Quick and simple installation. Very happy with the sound quality. Installed in a 2006 Subaru Outback. Calls can be answered and ended via stearing wheel controls as well as volume and switching tracks on your devices music player. The microphone is high quality and bluetooth connects easily. Would definitely recommend this product.

Fitted BT3 to a Subaru MY08 Liberty Spec B with McIntosh Head Unit (Japan Build). Very simple plug and play setup. Pairing with iPhone easy. Streaming music or taking calls all fine. Can change track up/down via steering controls. Has some quirks now and then but absolute value for the price. Would Recommend.
Daniel Vagg (verified owner) –
So easy to clip in, and I was listening to my own tracks within 20 minutes – the 20 minutes was mostly me fumbling around trying to feel out the port to clip in to and then manoeuvre the clip to position.
Peter Heffernan (verified owner) –
I purchased the BT3 to replace an old IPod integration unit as I was particularly interested in having Bluetooth functionality to be able to browse songs and answer calls hands-free.
Initially the unit did not work as it should as IPod music would keep playing when a call came through or when I played music through Bluetooth.
After thinking I had a faulty unit I contacted Chris from Cushie and he worked out through consultation with Grom Tech’s that the IPod 30-pin cable functionality had been removed in one of the newer hex file upgrades. I was sent an old hex file that i was able to load onto the BT3 and now everything functions as it should. Chris from Cushie was ultra-helpful.
The unit itself has been great since and I’m especially enjoying using voice commands to request songs.
Riley (verified owner) –
Absolute piece of piss to install, took me 20 minutes but if your not a trim master like my self you could easily do it in a hour or so. Some really good clips on youtube. 10/10 would recommend instead of whole new fascia and headunit. Sound quality is brilliant also, including the bluetooth mic!
Ian Teh (verified owner) –
Easy to install, very effective and more than acceptable quality. Great product. I got one for an Mx5 and even a DIYphobe like me managed to install it (after scouring youtube for lessons).

I got the grom BT and i am really happy i did.
Extremely simple to install. Steering wheel controls worked straight away, great sound quality over Bluetooth. All with great customer service

Works a treat on my R53 Cooper S JCW. Grom connects perfectly every time I get in the car and track up/down and volume work from the steering wheel controls. BT audio quality is good too, although i haven’t tested the mic yet on a call. Chris was very helpful in offering advice too, can’t fault at all. Thanks very much!

Purchased a GROM BT3 unit from Cushie Audio and installed in a Toyota Landcruiser 100 series GXL. Communication from Chris at Cushie Audio was excellent and installation relatively simple. The GROM BT3 performs well using Bluetooth connection for phone and both Bluetooth and plug connections with music. Definitely recommend this product.

Subaru MYO7 GT Spec B, McIntosh system PF-28241 made in Japan. What a great unit the Grom BT-3. Did days of research before purchase. Took 15 mins to install with Aux & USB below steering column and the mike in the drivers side pillar – piece of cake. The unit works brilliantly coupled with iPhone 7 plus. Steering column track up & down for phone answer works great, and once paired, if McIntosh on CD, as soon as ignition on, starts playing music from iPhone (I use full album shuffle works fine), again steering column track up / down works fine to skip. Using nav from Maps or Waze works great through system. Sound control for iPhone music / nav / phone calls works brilliantly (have them all in operation at one time) – takes a bit of fiddling to get levels right. I am still working on getting Siri to work (every time) concurrently as well – haven’t resolved that yet ……. any tips on this would be welcome.

Works perfectly in my Subaru Liberty 2004 with Clarion McIntosh PF-25511 stereo.
Including full steering wheel and stereo controls for calls and skipping tracks, despite the warning on this site that it wouldn’t be supported — which is a nice bonus.
Bluetooth connects pretty quickly and reliably, and sound quality is pretty good so far. The volume of the bluetooth connection is also quite comparable to the radio which is great — no need to turn the volume all the way up to hear it.
Chris (verified owner) –
Super easy to install. Couldn’t discover it straight away and rang for support which told I was informed how to rest the unit and paired no problem. Had I read the instruction book all the way though I wouldn’t have even needed to call. The hands free is very clear. Really happy with the purchase.
Jason –
Exactly what i needed to update my car to listen to music & make calls wirelessly… works perfectly & sounds great, impressed me looking & getting one for my dads car now too!

I’ve installed a myriad of audio accessories into many cars over the years, but this unit is without a doubt the simplest, best value kit I’ve ever had the pleasure of fitting. It took 10 minutes to install, including all disassembly and re-assembly, and works exactly as the use manual prescribes. Awesome piece of kit!
Vishal –
Great product & very easy to use.
Got it installed from Fairfield car radio.
Mine is a kenwood unit GX 203 KE
Works perfectly 🙂
Sam –
I was looking for a car kit for my Aurion and ended up getting the Grom BT3 with the aux and usb charger extension. It took about an hour to install and the result was good sound quality (similar to that of the CDs), I am able to use my steering wheel controls when using the bluetooth music and also with hands-free. Microphone worked well in calls, bluetooth sound quality appeared to be better than the aux and the usb charging feature works fine. I was also able to store the box safely behind the dash.
Overall this kit is better than the cheap unbranded crap you may find on ebay because you get more for the value and the product comes under a guarantee and warranty.
I strongly reccomend this kit for anyone interested in keeping their factory head unit.
Gavin –
The sound quality on Bluetooth is fantastic. It also paired up easily and the connection is very reliable. The sound quality is not quite as good on Aux (sounds like it’s clipping/saturating a fraction) but to say that is being pretty picky – it’s definitely still very listenable.
I have a Made in China version of the McIntosh PF-28241. The steering wheel controls do work but with a catch… When the stereo is first powered up it recognises the unit as an external CD stacker. It displays on the screen that it is Disc 2 Track 50. Now, I can forward skip to track 64 (so 14 total skips), after which I can’t skip anymore. A little hack I’ve discovered is to start a playlist (I’m using iPhone) and skip back as many tracks as possible first up. After a few restarts of the playlist I get the track count down, past zero, and to track 90. I can then skip through 75 times (65+10+zero-track). Yes, I know I’m one of those skipping people, but I have a 90 minute commute sometimes… Give me a break!!
But that’s not really in control of the GROM unit I don’t suppose.
Either way, it’s a great unit. Definitely a good upgrade and worth the money. If you really want a reverse camera or something else maybe put your $$ toward a new stereo. But honestly this is a good upgrade to an already better than average factory standard stereo.
Thanks Cushie Audio!
Kym –
Easy to install – bluetooth seems easy to use. Good product!
Jim –
Pop the dash open; clip the GROM into the back of the stereo; pair the device and away we go!
The team at Cushie were helpful with my questions before I had even ordered.
If you are thinking about getting one… stop thinking and place your order now!
Chris –
The delivery is super quick with fastway courier paid for it Mon morning received at my doorstep Tues morning thanks Cushieaudio team!!!
Was easy as pie to install, didnt even use any tool kits as suggested online in other forums, used only a flat head with an old rag over it to prevent scratches and took me no longer than 30mins to install. Would have been quicker if i made a swift decision on where to locate the BT microphone. Ended up taping it on steering column just under the wiper trigger. My voice on the microphone is clear also.
Would definitely recommend this BT3 product to anyone requiring a standard head unit upgrade.
Thanks again guys!!
Chris
John –
Very good price and ease of installation to achieve high quality blue tooth audio and phone in an older model car. Very happy with the Grom BT3 and delivery was next day. Well recommended.
Will –
Really easy to install. So happy with it. just bought a second hand 2005 Outback and it had everything I need except for bluetooth to listen to podcasts and take phone calls. Found the GROM online and figured it was a long shot, but I’d give it a go. Couldn’t have been easier. Pulled on the existing unit, plugged it in, read the instructions and it was working soon after, run the AUX cable and charger to a convenient location, put it all back together and that’s it!
Cameron –
Very good and simple to install. Steering wheel controls have worked (track up and down, Answer and decline). Bluetooth connects up straight away with no trouble.
Would consider purchasing products for them again.
Regan –
Awesome! sound is great. Better option than changing out the head unit.
Joe –
Was originally planning to change the radio to get handsfee and music streaming. Found the GROM and this was around 1/6 of the price of doing that, plus preserved steering wheel controls.
Josh –
Great response time, help on compatibility questions and even better product. I wish I had done it before.
Dru –
Its everything i wanted and it delivered.
Joshua –
Great sound quality, easy install, good functionality with steering controls. my only real issue is that i have to manually disconnect my phone from bluetooth if some one else wants to use aux (not that thats a real issue its just something i noticed).
Delivery and support from Cushie Audio was amazing got the unit barely 3 days after ordering it with everything packed well.
Jarryd –
Great unit, easy to install, awesome sound quality. Has limited control/functionality from the head unit (although I was aware of this before I bought the product), but still able to skip tracks through the head unit.
Brenton –
Very easy install, helpful emails to select the correct item and just works as promised. Very impressed I was expecting the process to be more difficult.
Jonathan –
Let’s get price out of the way, first. For what it is, it’s expensive—there’s not getting around that. But one can’t complain about that as if it was unknown, since the decision to purchase was not made in ignorance. The fact is, kits that add Bluetooth to factory radios are very hard to come by in Australia. This was the only Australian company I could find! I say it’s expensive, because I could definitely have completely replaced the radio with a BT one for the price.
But I didn’t want to. I have used single DIN radios with cramped up buttons and the main controls on the passenger side (oriented for left-hand-drive cars) for long enough that, when I got this car, I just loved the spacious, ergonomically nice to use, dedicated AM & FM button, radio controls. After umming and ahhing for some time, I decided I’d pay the extra to keep the much nicer-to-use factory radio and just ADD Bluetooth (I HEAVILY rely on Bluetooth, so SOME solution was a must).
Installation was a cinch, am very pleased with the sound, though a bit disappointed that track name does not display on the radio’s screen (I knew from reviews that this wasn’t a given, but had suspected that for my model radio I would get track names to display; unfortunately not).
Again, there was nothing (price and possibility that track names would not display) that I didn’t know before purchase, so I am actually very pleased with the result. I NICE-TO-USE double DIN factory radio with excellent, reliable Bluetooth, Aux-in and USB charging now. I’m pleased.
Silas –
Works great, Easy to install, Fast delivery , Neat design.
Installed very neatly behind my stereo with cords going all the way to centre console no problem
If I need one for another car would be buy from here.
Steve –
The install was very easy and the sound quality is great. I have a PF-25511 stereo and the steering wheel controls worked great. Even with my phone (Sony z3 compact) I can stream audio via bluetooth and change tracks and volume via the steering wheel controls.
James –
Works perfectly with MY05 Liberty GT McIntosh system (head unit type PF-22551I). It’s a little bit pricey but definitely worth the money. Bluetooth phone calls and music are crystal clear, aux sound quality is as good as you will ever get over an aux cable, no interference and doesn’t make a heap of noise when plugging/unplugging devices.
Shipping was fast; ordered on Sunday night, received on Tuesday morning.
Craig –
Easy to install and use and worked first time. Great value for money.
Nick –
Pretty good sound, easy install.
Ben –
A great unit which is easy to install. Bluetooth pairing is quick and it picks up my phone instantly when I get in the car which is more than you can say for some systems in certain brand new cars!
Shadi –
The best audio device I have bought, install was so simple and worked straightway. Connects to Bluetooth perfectly, it pauses the song when I switch car off and when I return and turn the car on it would resume playing, Only with Bluetooth I can use my head unit to change tracks, with aux you’ll need to use the phone. The only thing this needs is extra double sided tape for the mirophone as I had installed it then took it to get washed and they had knocked it down and now won’t stick properly.
Mark –
Wicked easy to install and my McIntosh PF-28241 (Made in Japan) works fine with steering wheel controls (contrary to some sites/forums).
Matthew –
Highly recommended! Extremely easy installation and operation.
Ambar –
Incredibly easy to use and install. No hassles at all. Only con is that Bluetooth audio quality is noticeably worse than AUX audio quality.
Morgan –
Great easy install, keeping the stock look and feel of the car with the easy to use Bluetooth. Would very much reccomend!!
Turlough –
Superb company to deal with. Answered all my technical queries patiently and helpfully. Prodcut arrived earlier than anticipated and was very straightforward to install. The connections were idiot proof and the instruction manual was very clear. I listened to my own music en route to work this morning which is the first time I have been able to do so since buying the car. I’m delighted with the product!!
Sam –
How did I ever live without Bluetooth? This unit lets music and phone calls seamlessly integrate with the stock stereo, and is even better if you have steering wheel buttons as it utilises those too.
Only problem is that sometimes when I start my car the music plays for a second and then pauses (instead of just automatically playing), and must be restarted by pressing play on the phone (although this may be due to the phone software itself). Otherwise operation is great, mutes music when a call is made or taken and restarts it afterwards, and steering wheel buttons allow easy control over answering calls, volumes, and skipping songs.
Sound quality is as good as CDs or the radio.
Would be nice if it were cheaper of course, but worth the money nonetheless.
Simon –
Easy to instal, works seamlessly for music, great alternative to replacing the head unit & facial.
Aaron –
Great product! Was so happy to keep all the functionality of the factory system whilst being able to input Bluetooth and iPod.
Dan –
Absolutely stoked with the customer service, the unit that wasn’t compatible was replaced twice, then I found one that suited my needs exactly. Thanks for all your assistance. Very Happy.
Matt –
I found the installation and troubleshooting instructions a bit lacking. They seem quite generic and didn’t relate to my specific vehicle model. The source of my problem was the connection to the BUS wire on my vehicle wiring harness (it’s a thin wire so hard to get a good connection). Had to work this out myself.
In relation to the music streaming via Bluetooth, the sound quality with the volume turned up to MAX on the iPhone is not good. What I have found is to turn the volume down to 3/4 on the iPhone then turn the stereo volume up. This seems to help with quality. Maybe something to add to your instructions!
Wesley –
I love it now, had to jump through a few hoops – as nothing was compatible with the original stereo (head unit) so had to swap to a newer head unit ($40 second hand ebay) and splice together a new wiring loom. Works great once done!!
CUSHIE AUDIO SUPPORT: Customer took a punt on an older radio outside of the supported GROM range hence the reason it didn’t work with the original radio. Since upgrading the radio it works with the GROM unit.
Mark –
Shipping took 1 business day, install took all of 5 minutes. Tip for anyone with a Mazda 6 GG series, just take the glovebox out and you should be able to reach in behind the stereo to connect the adapter. It’s a bit tight but much easier than taking the whole stereo out.
Adam –
Overall a simple to use product that performs very well in the integration department. Sound quality is average for Bluetooth audio quality, however this is mostly down to Bluetooth and its inherent losses, and having multiple gains in control.
John –
Works seamlessly with standard Subaru radio. Easy to install and effortless to setup. Music streaming from iPhone works well and sound quality is good. Very happy.
Craig –
I always dismissed bluetooth integration on my old mazda 6 as either too complicated or too interventional. But the GROM BT3 is, quite literally, plug and play. And unlike alot of the youtube GROM installation videos for the US, the Mazda 6 glovebox is on the left side in Australia, so you don’t actually need to remove the centre console to plug it in – you just have to gently remove the glove box (see youtube for instructions) and if you’re flexible enough, you can access the plug on the back of your sound system quite easlily – I had the unit it working within in 5 minutes including a quick change to my pollen filter (which by the way was filthy – you should check yours while you’re there)!
What’s cool is that if you have an iPhone connected by bluetooth, you can use Siri to request songs, directions, read email, all over your car speakers.
In terms of cons, it will connect most of the time, but in a small number of cases I’ll have to unpair and repair to get it autoconnecting again – but that’s a small issue and I have the same experience with all bluetooth devices I’ve used.
Dan –
I have a MY04 Liberty with a McIntosh PF-25511 disc changer, it recently stopped playing CD’s. I installed the GROM BT3 unit in 1.5hrs paired to my phone and everything works really well. Top sound quality and volume, if your McIntosh PF-25511 unit has failed get one of these units and you wont look back.
Liam –
The Grom BT3 unit is fantastic! Install was a piece of cake. Operation is seamless. As soon as I start the car my phone is ready to go for music or calls.
Chris –
What a great alternative to the only other solution for my car, which was to buy a new Bluetooth head unit and replace my dash with an aftermarket unit in order to fit it at a cost of over $600. The Grom kit was simple and easy to install, and works great. Connects automatically every time I jump in- super fast, and has no problems switching between calls and BTA music streaming. That coupled with a factory fit look reinforces my decision that this is indeed the cheapest, easiest solution for Bluetooth connectivity. Friends and family so impressed I will be ordering a few more for them. Thanks guys, very impressed!
Peter –
Works fantastically and installation was a breeze. Plug and play FTW!
The only issue was that I needed a firmware upgrade before it would work with my car, but support was great.
Matt –
This is probably the best product of this type I have ever brought. I have had many other brands and quite simply this is the by far the best. The service and delivery times were great (even to NZ) , it was so easy to install and to put it simply it just works!!! The sound quality is great and the unit is very functional. If they made one for my VE commodore I would definitely buy it.
Thanks heaps for a great product.
Tim –
Fantastic product. It’s incredibly easy to install and the sound quality is superb. Took about 15 minutes to get it all up and running. Happily recommended.
Steve –
Such an easy install after you have watched the various YouTube videos on how to access the stereo external stacker port – installed and working in semi darkness in 45 mins 🙂
The Bluetooth sound is surprisingly full but in comparison to the iPhone connection is a little woolier/flabbier.
At the moment it looks like I may benefit from a firmware upgrade to get the iPhone connection skip fwd function working (as it is working under Bluetooth).
I got the Bluetooth confused after a lot of fiddling around but after clearing the pairing (forget device) then repair – seems fine since.
A shame there isn’t a lightning iPhone cable available (30pin plus official apple adapter works though)
Should have bought something like this years ago !
Chris –
Easy to install after watching some clips on YouTube. Had to make a small alteration to the wiring in the stereo, again with help from YouTube. System took a short time to connect via Bluetooth but now it’s connected it works great!!
Cushie Audio: Some 2003/2004 Mazda 6’s require a small modification to the radio, for more information see the following link: http://cushieaudio.com.au/wiki/mazda/mazda-6-head-unit-modification-guide.html

Very easy to install, easy to use, bluetooth pairing was straight forward and good sound quality.
